Police Search For Man In Connection To Chicago Heights Murder

Police issued an arrest warrant for Billy J. Adams, of Ford Heights, in connection to the shooting and killing of Monjero Speed last month.

SAUK VILLAGE, IL — Sauk Village police are looking for a south suburban man in connection to the killing of a 31-year-old at a liquor store last month.

According to police, Billy J. Adams shot and killed Monjero Speed on the night of Dec. 21.

That night, officers responded to a call at around 9 p.m. regarding gunfire in the area of 2900 Sauk Trail and arrived to find Speed wounded.

Police took the 31-year-old to St. Margaret's Hospital in Dyer, Indiana where he died shortly after.

An investigation with Sauk Village police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force concluded the shooting occurred at Tony's Food and Liquors at 1709 East Sauk Trail. Police did not immediately respond to questions on how Speed moved from the 1700 block to the 2900 block of Sauk Trail after he was wounded.

Further questioning led police to file an arrest warrant for Billy Adams, of Ford Heights. Adams is facing charges of first-degree murder.
