Rich Township D227 Earns Outstanding Financial Reporting Award

RICH TOWNSHIP, IL — The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded Rich Township High School District 227 the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE), according to a news release from the school district.
ASBO International’s COE recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency, the release states. ASBO has just made the announcement that District 227 earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended 2020.
Dr. Johnnie Thomas is Superintendent of RTHS District 227 and Mr. Larry Varn is Principal. The district, located in Chicago’s South Suburbs, is culturally relevant and innovative while providing a foundation of opportunities for students to thrive and succeed, the release states.

“The COE’s mission is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting,” ASBO International Executive Director David Lewis says. “The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.”
A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes, the release states.

According to the release, district 227 provides students a college preparatory atmosphere with two campuses that enhance the learning process: the STEM Campus in Olympia Fields and the Fine Arts and Communications Campus in Richton Park. www.rich227.org.
