1 Airlifted To Hospital In Crash With SUV Left On Route 14: Police

A sports utility vehicle driving on Route 14 Sunday evening collided with a SUV left unattended on the roadway, police said.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A Chevrolet sports utility vehicle headed southeast on Route 14 north Lucas Road in Crystal Lake on Sunday evening collided with a sports utility vehicle that "had been left unattended" in traffic, police said Monday.

The driver of the Chevrolet SUV sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening. He was airlifted to a local hospital for emergency treatment, police said.

A passenger in the Chevrolet also suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

A portion of Route 14 was closed down for about three hours following the collision, which happened at about 5 p.m. Monday. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
