$1 Million Bail For Cary Teen Accused In Fatal DUI Crash
Danielle Thomas, 16, of McHenry, was killed in the two-car collision in March.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A $1 million bail was ordered Tuesday for an 18-year-old Cary man who is charged with reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence in connection with a March crash that killed a 16-year-old McHenry girl. Caleb Rohrbach turned himself into authorities Tuesday.
A $1 million warrant was issued for Rohrbach's arrest on Aug. 28. Rohrbach is charged with three counts of reckless homicide, three counts of aggravated driving under the influence of cannabis and two counts of aggravated reckless driving for allegations he caused the March 15 crash that killed Danielle Thomas, 16 of McHenry.
The two-car crash happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Route 12 near Case Road in Wauconda when a black Hyundai Elantra, driven by Caleb R. Rohrbach, was heading south on Route 12 and crossed the center line, colliding head on with a gray Ford Focus, which was driven by Thomas, according to police.

Rohrbach's vehicles was traveling 70 mph and crossed a grassy median just prior to the crash, assistant Lake County State's Attorney Lisa LeBoeuf said during the bond hearing. Thomas was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time after the crash.
Three other teens in her car were taken to area hospitals for treatment, according to prosecutors. Two of the teens suffered major injuries and a third sustained minor injuries.

If Rohrbach is able to post the required 10 percent of his $1 million bond and is released from jail, he has been ordered to wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM) device.
Lake County Associate Judge Paul Novak also ordered a 24-hour curfew for Rohrbach and ordered him to refrain from consuming any drugs or alcohol, not to possess any weapons, and to be the subject to random drug testing.
Rohrbach is due back in court on Sept. 9.
