WOODSTOCK, IL — Authorities are investigating what caused a building collapse in Woodstock Wednesday afternoon.
The collapse happened at about noon Wednesday at Thompson Appliance, 318 Clay St. The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the city of Woodstock building department responded to the collapse, which happened while the business was closed.

Representatives from Nicor and ComEd responded to the location to secure utilities as a precaution. No injuries were reported, and the Woodstock Police Department assisted with traffic control and scene security.
Further assessments are expected to help determine when access to the area can resume, and residents and visitors are asked to avoid the area and follow posted closures, fire officials said.
