Cary-Area Blaze Burns Through 4 Acres Of Marshland Over The Weekend

CARY, IL — It took firefighters about 90 minutes to get a blaze — which burned through nearly four acres of marshland Saturday afternoon near Cary— under control, fire officials said Monday.

The Cary Fire Protection District first responded to a report of heavy smoke in the 6300 block of West Rawson Bridge Road at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, fire officials said. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a heavy fire traveling through the cattails and into the surrounding marshland.

More fire departments responded to help battle the blaze, which took 1.5 hours to get under control, according to a news release from the Cary Fire Protection District.

No one was injured in the fire, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
