'I Enjoyed Everything About Mum': Popular Boutique Closes After 8 Years In Downtown Crystal Lake
Owner Lynn Lourie officially closed Mum 117 at 37 N. Williams Street on October 10.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — After eight years in Crystal Lake, a popular boutique shop in the downtown area has closed it's doors.
Owner Lynn Lourie officially closed Mum 117 at 37 N. Williams Street on October 10.
"I enjoyed everything about Mum, our customers, being a member of the downtown community, my incredible employees. I loved sourcing new and unusual products, merchandise display and creating great window display," Lourie said.

She first opened Mum in Barrington 10 years ago. But when a "great space" opened up on Williams Street in Crystal Lake, she decided to move there.
"Crystal Lake is our home and I love everything about our great city. CL was the perfect area to open a boutique, which had a little bit of everything, the ultimate gift shop," she said.

The former McHenry County College art instructor is now officially retired and enjoying time with her husband and her two dachshunds, Groucho and Margaux. She is also working to renovate their home, she told Patch.
