McHenry Woman Killed In I-290 Crash
The three-vehicle crash happened Wednesday afternoon when a driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit the woman's vehicle, authorities said.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — A 79-year-old McHenry woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in DuPage County, according to authorities. The Daily Herald is reporting the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 290 just after noon when a 28-year-old Lombard woman fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a red Ford Windstar.
Illinois State Police officials said the Windstar, driven by the McHenry woman, collided with a black Mitsubishi Outlander and then the center median wall, according to the Daily Herald. The Nissan Ventra, driven by the Lombard woman, hit the center median and the Outlander overturned after being hit.
The McHenry woman, who has been identified as Jean Meis, was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to the article. The two other drivers suffered minor injuries.
