Woman Seriously Injured In Route 31 Crash

A box truck came to rest on top of a car following a collision at Route 31 and Three Oaks Road in Crystal Lake Tuesday morning.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A woman was seriously injured following a collision at Route 31 and Three Oaks Road Tuesday morning, authorities said. The crash occurred at 9:39 a.m. when a white Isuzu box truck heading north on Route 31 hit a Chevrolet Impala, which was turning south onto Route 31 from westbound Three Oaks Road, according to a news release from the Crystal lake Police Department.

The Isuzu came to rest on top of the car, according to police. The driver of the Impala, a woman, was taken by helicopter to Condell Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the box truck, a man, was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Southbound Route 31 at Three Oaks Road was shut down following the collision but has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Crystal Lake Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call 815-356-3620. In addition, anyone with a cell phone can send an anonymous tip to the Crystal Lake Police Department by texting the word CLPDTIP along with the tip information to 847411 (tip411).
