Star Student: 'The Kid Everyone Wants In Their Class'
Andrew, a Crystal Lake Central student, has held leadership positions in several projects, is a boy scout working on his Eagle rank.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Maria Kaiser who nominated her son, Andrew, who is in the 11th grade at Crystal Lake Central.

How do you know the star local student?
My son
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Andrew is a Boy Scout who is working on his Eagle rank. He is the leader of his troop. He teaches leadership skill to other scouts for a week in the summer. He attends monthly trainings from Jan to June to prepare for the camp.
He is in Avid at Crystal Lake Central and has held leadership positions for several projects. He goes to school early to help other Avid students and is on a committee to gather prom dresses for under privileged youth who need a dress for prom.
He's promoted the program and currently his school has raised more dresses than any other school. He is in Police Explorers as well. He is on Command staff which is a leadership position as well. He volunteers his time during the summer to help with festival in Lake in the Hills. He is part of peer jury in our area where he helps guide youth who get into minor trouble. He was asked to take over Peer Jury due to his leadership skills.
He works to teach kids how to code video games. He is there for his friends and family whenever they need him. He helps clean around the house without being asked. He does allow these things while maintaining a high GPA and taking a honors class and dual credit class. He is the kid everyone wants in their class.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
He is a great kid who gives so much to others and does not expect anything in return. He's trying to make the youth today better.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Andrew 11th grade!
