Crystal Lake Avenue at Main Street Nicor Work

Nicor started their relocation work on January 22 on the south leg of the intersection. A detour for westbound traffic along Crystal Lake Avenue on the east leg of the intersection will be needed. The detour route will be along Pingree Road, Congress Parkway and Main Street. Due to the location of the Nicor work, on the north side of Crystal Lake Avenue, only one lane of traffic is allowable. Due to traffic safety standards and roadway constrictions, only the eastbound traffic can remain open. Detouring traffic along Erick Street to Route 176 requires vehicles to turn left onto Route 176 which is an uncontrolled intersection and would be difficult and create lengthy backups. Congress Parkway is the next closest collector road to use as the detour route and provides intersections with existing traffic signals.
