Woman Charged With DUI In Fatal Hit and Run
Carolyn Tyrrell, 53, of Crystal Lake was arrested this past week for allegedly causing the crash that left a 53-year-old Algonquin man dead.
CRYSATL LAKE, IL — A 53-year-old Crystal Lake woman was arrested on a warrant this past week for driving drunk and causing a crash that left a motorcyclist dead. Carolyn Tyrrell, 53, is charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol in a hit-and-run crash that happened on Sept. 10.
The collision happened at 7:37 p.m. at Virginia and Berkshire Drive and authorities were able to quickly track down Tyrrell's vehicle. The bumper of her car and the license plate was left behind at the crash scene, Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Thomas Kotlowski told the Northwest Herald.
Tyrrell agreed to toxicology testing and a breath test that night and her blood alcohol content was .111, police told the newspaper. The legal limit in Illinois is .08.

The driver of a motorcycle that her vehicle hit, George Klinger, 53, of Algonquin, was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A passenger on Klinger's motorcycle was flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center and her condition was not immediately known.

Tyrrell was not listed as in custody at the McHenry County Jail as of Thursday morning, according to online records. She is next expected in court on Oct. 15.
