Repeated Eggings Of House In Darien Neighborhood: Cops

In another case, police arrested a Darien man after responding to a dispute.

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving vandalism, porch piracy, retail theft, DUI and a man who violated the terms of his release. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Vandalism

  • A resident in the 700 block of 67th Street told police Friday that her house had been egged several times this summer. In the most recent instance, she noticed her front door, driveway, garage and roof had been egged overnight. The damage was estimated at $500.
  • Someone sprayed a can of WD-40 on the driver's side of a car about 5:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 Cass Ave. The owner said he received an alert from his camera system.

  • Police responded to a dispute about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Lakeview Drive. A 59-year-old man who lives there was arrested on a charge of violating the terms of his release from jail before his trial. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Porch piracy

  • An iPhone was reported as delivered Friday to a house in the 800 block of 79th Street. The recipient was a man who waved down the UPS driver for the package. The owner reported it as theft. The estimated loss was $1,200.

Retail theft

  • An 18-year-old Willowbrook woman and a youth were arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on retail theft charges. Police said the duo pushed a cart of merchandise to the self-checkout counter and only paid for one item. They were given a date to appear in court and released.

DUI

  • A 24-year-old Roselle man was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday on charges of DUI, speeding and driving with a suspended registration. Police said the man was speeding in the 6800 block of Route 83. He was given a date to appear in court and released.
