New Principal Named At Deerfield High School: District 113
The Township High School District 113 Board of Education voted to approve a three-year contract for the new hire at Tuesday's meeting.

DEERFIELD, IL — A new principal at Deerfield High School is officially on deck. The Township High School District 113 Board of Education voted to approve a three-year contract appointing Dr. Will Dwyer to the position, effective July 1. Dwyer joins the district from his current role as principal of West Chicago Community High School.
Current DHS Principal Kathryn Anderson will become chief human resources officer/deputy superintendent for District 113 at the end of the school year.
"Being a principal is a role that I love and I am thrilled by the opportunity to be a Warrior for advancing academic excellence, fostering a supportive school culture, and building collaborative relationships with the students, families, and staff of DHS," Dwyer said.

During a five-month search to fill the position, involving representatives and input from multiple stakeholder groups, Holland said Dwyer "emerged as the perfect fit to lead DHS into its next chapter of excellence."

Dwyer has served as principal of West Chicago High School for the past six years, where he has led and managed a team of 16 administrators, driving instructional and logistical improvement plans for a diverse student population of over 2,000, according to District 113.
Prior to West Chicago, Dwyer served as the director of secondary teaching and learning at West Aurora School District 129 for five years. Before District 129, he spent two years at Oswego East High School in the role of assistant principal of teaching and learning.
"During my career, I have been proud to lead teams that have achieved measurable improvements in academic performance and student engagement, expanded career pathways, a robust academic support system and a school-wide advisory program dedicated to social and emotional well-being, academic support and school connection," Dwyer said.
According to the district, Dwyer will spend some time at DHS meeting students, families and staff this spring. His first day on campus meeting Warriors will be on Wednesday, April 2. Current and future DHS parents and caregivers are welcome to join Dwyer from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the College and Career Resource Center. Details for staff and student times will be shared with those groups separately.
