Police say access for local residents and businesses will be maintained, but they urge non-attendees to avoid River Road and nearby streets during the pilgrimage due to heavy crowds and traffic.
   

• Des Plaines Man, 44, Facing Gun Charge (journal-topics.com) — Police responded to a late-night disturbance on Pearson Street in Des Plaines, where officers say they recovered a handgun from a resident who lacked a valid Illinois FOID card and has a prior felony record.
