DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A developer is seeking approval to build a 9,606 square foot building with five storefronts and a drive-thru in the 1200 block of Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove. The village's planning and zoning commission will review the request at its Feb. 3 meeting.

Part of the property at 1250-1254 Ogden Ave. is occupied by an immediate care facility. In his petition to the committee, petitioner Vick Mehta wrote, "The entire parcel is mostly paved with a dilapidated asphalt surface lot comprising approximately 43 parking spaces. Minimal open space

is provided in a grassy, non-landscaped area along the rear property line. Most exterior utilities and refuse containers are exposed. The building itself is outdated, and most components have reached the end of their serviceable life."

Mehta aims to demolish the building and replace it with the aforementioned multi-unit commercial structure. The proposed building would include space for a fast casual restaurant with a drive-thru on its west end, and another restaurant with al fresco dining on the east end.

The petitioner is seeking a special use permit to allow for the drive-thru structures. The planning and zoning commission will meet Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
