Local Student Among Just 27 In IL To Advance To National Art Contest

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A seventh grader from O'Neill Middle School is one of just 27 students in Illinois to advance to the national level of the 2025 PTA Reflections competition.
Nora James was chosen for her film, "Human Law," which will be considered in the national competition later this spring.
Sixth grader Ashley Erickson received an honorable mention at the state level for a choreographed dance called "Beautiful in Every Way." Belle Aire sixth grader Henry Haley also received an honorable mention for his photography submission, entitled "The Nature of Imperfection."

Each year, the PTA Reflections competition welcomes students to share compositions in dance, film literature, music, visual arts and photography that draw inspiration from a shared theme. The theme for the 2025 competition is "Accepting Imperfection."
James, Erickson, Haley and other students who competed at the state level will be honored at a statewide ceremony in Champaign on May 17.
