District 99 Unveils 2024 Athletic Hall Of Fame Inductees

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Five athletes, a coach and a girls volleyball team were recently inducted into the District 99 Athletic Hall of Fame for 2024.

From Downers Grove North (DGN), the honorees are:

• Duane Buturusis, a former athletic director, administrator and coach
• Dale Ryndak, softball player, class of 2014
• Kendall Ryndak, softball player, class of 2011

DGN will induct its new members in a ceremony preceding the Jan. 13 varsity boys' basketball game.

“We’re incredibly proud of our new inductees for their athletic accomplishments, as well as their sportsmanship and the legacy they’ve left behind at Downers North,” DGN Athletic Director Denise Kavanaugh told Patch.

The honorees from Downers Grove South (DGS) are as follows:

• Coach Jay Baum, who was a coach from 1985 through 2013
• Nick Burdi, class of 2011
• Zach Burdi, class of 2013
• Michaela Hackbarth, class of 2016
• Lauren Meister, class of 2006
• Denise Sarna, class of 1980
• 1999 Girls Volleyball Team

The new DGS Hall of Famers will be inducted in a ceremony slated for Feb. 9.
