Downers Grove Father Pleads Not Guilty in Shaken Baby Case
Timothy Churchill has been indicted by a grand jury, reports say.

DuPage County, IL - A Downers Grove father pleaded not guilty Monday after he was indicted on six counts of aggravated battery for accusations that he shook his 3-month-old daughter, causing serious head injuries.
Timothy Churchill, 20 of the 4200 block of Lindley Street in Downers Grove, was indicted by a grand jury, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Churchill and the child’s mother took their daughter around 2 a.m. Jan. 23 to the Edward Hospital emergency room in Naperville.

The baby was unresponsive and was found to have “substantial head injuries,” the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office reported. The baby was sent to Lurie Children’s Hospital for emergency brain surgery.
Authorities believe Churchill violently shook his daughter on at least five occasions, causing her head injuries, which included bilateral subdural hematomas and retinal hemorrhaging.

Churchhill was booked Feb. 3, and his bail was set at $1 million.
