Downers Grove Residents Invited to Weigh in on 2013 Storms

The village of Downers Grove will host several meetings this week obtain community input on its preliminary 2013 Storm Report.
The open house meetings will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Downers Grove Public Works Department, 5101 Walnut Ave., on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
All are welcome to attend at any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Staff members will be available to answer questions, and the input gathered will be used to help finalize the Storm Report and plan future drainage improvements.

Staff Report: April 2013 Storm Event - Prepared July 1, 2013
The preliminary report, published July 1, provides a summary and analysis of the April 17-18, 2013 storm event, key findings, and preliminary recommendations for future improvements and maintenance activities for the stormwater management system, according to village officials.

To prepare the report, village staff and consulting engineers analyzed information provided by residents and business owners through personal meetings, photos, emails, surveys and videos.
A final report with recommendations will be completed in August, in time for the 2014 budget process, which begins in September.

Classic Cinemas’ Wednesday Morning Movie Series: “Escape from Planet Earth” (PG) will be screened at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave. General admission is $1 per person.
Coffee and Dessert with State Rep. Sandy Pihos: Join Pihos for dessert and coffee, and for casual conversations about any topic of interest. The gathering will be held at the Downers Grove Park District Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road.
