DUI Arrest, Car Burglary, Damaged Bicycle: Police Blotter
Downers Grove police reports, March 9-13.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13
Possession of Alcohol by a Minor
Colin R. O'Hare, 18, of the 1400 block of Holland Place, Downers Grove, was arrested at 2:18 a.m. near Main Street and Ogden Avenue, police said. O'Hare was charged with minor possession of alcohol by consumption, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to signal and speeding. He was released on I-bond.
DUI
William J. Ruyter, 32, of the 5800 block of Sunrise Avenue, Clarendon Hills, was arrested at 1:36 a.m. near 63rd Street and Dunham Road, police said. Ruyter was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was issued an April 24 court date in Wheaton.

Stolen Bike Tire, Broken Chain
A bicycle parked in the 1000 block of Burlington Avenue was damaged sometime between 7:15 a.m. and 5:35 p.m., police said.
The victim told police the bike was secured to a rack at the corner of Main Street and Warren Avenue before she took a train into Chicago. When she returned, she noticed that the back tire and wheel had been forcibly removed from the bike. She also noticed that the chain and rear brake mechanism were both broken, police said.

Officers wrote that it appeared the offender, while trying to force the wheel off the bicycle, broke the other parts. Nothing else was stolen from the bike.
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
Car Burglary on Ogden Avenue
A car was burglarized in the 100 block of Ogden Avenue sometime between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., police said. The victim told police a handicapped placard was stolen from her rearview mirror. No other items were removed from the vehicle.
