Education Foundation Invites Community to Spring Fundraiser

All proceeds from the March 10 event will directly support District 58 students.

Downers Grove, IL - Dust off your neon shoulder pads, parachute pants and hairspray – the 80s are coming for you!

The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58 invites the community to dress up as their favorite 1980s celebrity and come to its annual spring fundraiser concert: ’80s Night with Sixteen Candles hosted by Classic Cinemas Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave. The show will take place Thursday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Sixteen Candles is Chicago’s premier 1980s cover band. They formed in 2003 and perform a large repertoire of 1980s hits. They strive to fuse nostalgia and style to inspire a spectacular 1980s music experience for every concertgoer.

Purchase tickets online at 58foundation.org/16candles. Buy your tickets by Feb. 15 to enjoy the Early Bird Special Presale discount of $5 off each ticket. After Feb. 15, tickets will cost $35 for general admission, $60 for second tier seating and $90 for VIP front row seating. All proceeds from the show will benefit District 58 Education Foundation programs, which include the Teacher Grants Program, Select 58, Distinguished Service Awards and more.

The show will offer a full bar. Guests must be 21 years old to enter, and security will check IDs.

Be sure to arrive early – the event will kick off with a rockin’ District 58 School ‘80s Costume Contest starting at 6 p.m. Each District 58 school will have one or two staff members dressed up in a fantastic 1980s costume. Guests may vote for the best costume, and the top three schools will win cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100, respectively, from the Education Foundation. Votes cost $1 each.

To include the kids, the Foundation will post photos of each contestant in costume at all District 58 schools and hold costume contest pre-voting from March 1-9. Students may vote for their favorite costume with dollars, coins or any spare change – every penny will count! Learn more about the costume contest at www.58foundation.org/80scontest.
