Mini Bikes Involved In Two Crimes Reported In Downers Grove
Police say mini bikes were involved in two reports of criminal damage to property in Downers Grove.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police are investigating two reports of criminal damage to property that involved minibikes in Downers Grove.
The first incident took place on Nov. 23. A woman told police she was driving west on 67th and turned onto South Fairmount when "four minibike drivers, dressed all in black, appeared on the roadway in front of her," a police report said.
The woman told police she honked at the minibike drivers, but they started to follow her. She stopped in the 6600 block of Blackstone and told the drivers, whom she described as teens in black face masks, that she would call police.

Police say a minibike driver drove up to the woman's vehicle and hit her side mirror with their hand. The woman's husband, who was also in the car, told police he got out, and a minibike driver drove at him and veered "at the last moment," per the police report.
Minibikes were involved in a subsequent incident that took place at McCollum Park. Police were told that people had driven minibikes over the park's soccer field area, damaging the fields. The incident took place sometime between Nov. 24 and Nov. 26.

Staff told police that there has been an "ongoing problem" in which the subjects appeared to be in high school or middle school.
