'Muddy Footprints:' House Burglarized In Downers Grove
Police say a home was burglarized in the 700 block of 73rd Street Wednesday.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Muddy footprints were left behind as evidence when a Downers Grove home was burglarized Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to the house in the 700 block of 73rd Street just before 12:30 p.m. after a resident got a notification that there was movement detected near one of the home's back doors and returned to check on the house.
The resident told police he shouted when he got into the home and then heard "a commotion" on the second floor of the house, per a police report. He then exited the home.

When officers got to the scene, they noticed the garage door and the door leading from the garage to the house were both ajar.
Police say they saw muddy footprints leading from the back door to the kitchen. They also reported seeing muddy prints on a chair that had been in the kitchen.
