New Assistant Superintendent For Business Named For District 58

Dr. Gregory Harris has been appointed as the chief school business official and assistant superintendent for business for District 58.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Dr. Gregory Harris was recently appointed to be the newest assistant superintendent for Downers Grove Grade School District 58. Harris will serve as the district's chief school business official and assistant superintendent for business.

Harris's appointment was approved at the March 10 school board meeting.

For the past five years, Harris has worked as Roselle School District 12's assistant superintendent for finance and operations. His experience also includes serving as the Valley View Community Unit School District 365U director of grants and accountability. Before becoming an administrator, Harris taught social studies and English.

He earned a bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in School Administration at Concordia University in Chicago. Harris's doctoral degree comes from Roosevelt University, where he studied Educational Leadership.

"We are excited to welcome Dr. Gregory Harris to District 58 as our new assistant superintendent for business/chief school business official (CSBO),” said Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell said in a statement.

He added that Harris's "exceptional experience and deep knowledge" and "proven record of success" helped him stand out from other candidates.

Russell said, "We are confident that Greg will be a tremendous asset to our team and the entire District 58 community.”

“As a District 58 parent, community member and former Board of Education member, I’ve seen first-hand how District 58 operates, and I believe it is an incredible and very special organization. I am very grateful and humbled to have this opportunity to serve this role,” Harris said in a statement.

He added, “As the assistant superintendent for business and chief school business official, I will always keep our students’ interests at the center of every important decision being made."
