New Principal Appointed For Herrick Middle School
Dr. Steve Perkins was recently unanimously appointed to serve as Herrick Middle School's principal.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A new principal has been chosen to take the helm at Herrick Middle School. Dr. Steve Perkins was unanimously approved by the Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Board of Education to assume the role of principal as of July 1.
Perkins brings with him extensive experience that includes serving as associate principal of South Middle School in Arlington Heights. Before he began his career teaching social studies, Perkins earned a bachelor's and masters degree at Drake University, and then a doctorate in educational leadership at National Louis University
Perkins was appointed following several rounds of interviews by administrators, staff and parents.

District 58 Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell said in a statement, “Our interview team members were impressed with his warm, positive communication style, his empathy and humility, the value he placed on connections with students, staff and families and his clear investment in education."
At Monday's board meeting, Perkins commented, “I am honored and humbled to have been selected to be a part of the Herrick School team and community. I appreciate the passion and care that currently exists in Downers 58, and I hope to be able to add a positive, communicative, and transparent lens to the building to foster student success."
