No Injuries in Downers Grove Attic Fire
A home in the 3700 block of Sterling Road was badly damaged after a fire broke out in the attic around 5 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

No one was injured in an attic fire that badly damaged a Downers Grove home Thursday, officials said.
The fire broke out around 5 p.m. in the attic of a house in the 3700 block of Sterling Avenue, according to Downers Grove Fire Department spokesperson Marsha Geisler.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke, and found the homeowner outside attempting to extinguish the flames. The fire was struck out by 5:32 p.m., Geisler said.

No injuries were reported, but the family has been temporarily displaced due to the extensive damage to the roof, Geisler said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Downers Grove Fire Department was assisted at the scene by fire departments from Oak Brook, Westmont and Lisle-Woodridge.
