NWS: Winter Storm Watch in Effect for Downers Grove Area on Sunday
Up to a quarter-inch of ice could accumulate, the weather service said.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for Sunday, warning that "significant ice accumulations are possible Sunday into Sunday night." The watch area includes Cook, DuPage and Will counties.
According to the NWS, freezing rain mixed with sleet will develop during the day Sunday and continue into Sunday night, with the potential for ice accumulation in excess of of a quarter of an inch.
The potential accummulation could make travel difficult, and ice forming on tree limbs and power lines could result in power outages, the NWS said.

A winter storm watch means there is a potential for icy weather. The storm is still in the developing stages and any change in forecast could result in a shift in the expected accumulation and type of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
