Storms Cause Outages at Downers Grove Rec Center, North High

The Downers Grove Park District and North High School were forced to cancel activities Tuesday due to power outages.

The Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road, and high school, 4436 Main St., both lost power when a line of fast-moving severe thunderstorms swept through the western suburbs Monday night. The storms left as many as 2,500 Downers Grove residents without power.

Due to the outages, District 99 was forced to cancel summer camp at North High. At the recreation center, 4500 Fitness and all programs were canceled until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
