These 20 Businesses Hit By Burglars In Same Day

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Patch recently filed a FOIA to obtain the names of the 20 businesses that were burglarized in a matter of hours in Downers Grove on the morning of April 7.

The majority of the smash-and-grab burglaries took place around 3:40 a.m. along Main Street, Ogden Avenue and Finley and Butterfield Roads, the according to police records. "While officers were responding to the burglaries along Finley Road and Butterfield Road, more burglar alarms were triggered along Ogden Avenue," one police report said.

1. Corner Pantry, 4240 Main St.

A glass door was shattered, $400 was stolen from a cash register and cartons of cigarettes were taken.

2. Fast Eddy's Pizzeria, 4248 Main St.

The burglar(s) broke glass to gain entry to the pizzeria and stole cash from the register.

3. Subway, 2958 Finley Road

A window was shattered and drinks were stolen from the restaurant.

4. Edible Arrangements, 2956 Finley Road

A glass door was shattered and a cash register containing $100 was stolen.

5. Pho Noodle Station & Bubble Tea House, 2950 Finley Road

The burglar(s) broke the building's glass door to gain entry and stole a cash register.

6. Juicy-O, 2942 Finley Road

The shop's glass door was broken, but no cash was taken, per the police report.

7. Taco Maya, 1400 Butterfield Road

A glass door was shattered, and one register was broken into.

8. Panera, 1400 Butterfield Road

The restaurant's glass was broken, and a cash register was "compromised," a police report said.

9. Great Clips, 1412 Butterfield Road

Someone shattered the salon's glass to gain entry and stole a cash register.

10. Coco Nail Bar, 1308 Butterfield Road

A glass window was shattered and the shop's register was "disturbed," with the total loss estimated at $1,088.

11. Smoothie King, 1018 Ogden Ave.

Police say a window was shattered, one cash register was taken and another was emptied. The total amount stolen was estimated at $300.

12. Panda Express, 1010 Ogden Ave.

Someone shattered a window and emptied the restaurant's cash register.

13. MOD Pizza, 1022 Ogden Ave.

A glass door was shattered and a cash drawer containing $250 was stolen.

14. Cassano's Pizzeria, 2021 Ogden Ave.

Police say someone shattered the pizzeria's door to gain entry and stole $310 from the register.

15. DG Food Mart, 2027 Ogden Ave.

Police reported that "no evidence of note was located on this scene to be collected."

16. Buffalo Wild Wings, 945 Ogden Ave.

Two registers were stolen after the burglar(s) shattered a window to gain entry.

17. Fannie May Candy, 2205 Ogden

Someone shattered a window and damaged a door during a burglary at Fannie May Candy. One cash register had been smashed, and its drawer was stolen.

18. Cedar Grill, 2223 Ogden Ave.

A safe and a cash drawer were stolen after a glass door was shattered at Cedar Grill.

19. McAlister's Deli, 933 Ogden Ave.

Police say the deli's front door and a booth were damaged, but no cash was reported missing.

20. Powermart, 2125 Ogden Ave.

The store's front door was smashed and $200 was stolen from a cash register.

Several of the burglary reports indicated that a rock or other blunt object had been used to smash the business's glass. Police received surveillance footage from some of the businesses that had been burglarized, but as of April 16 no suspects had been identified.

This rash of burglaries came shortly after three businesses in the village were burglarized in 24 hours in late March.
