Be one of the first guests to explore the Lincoln Hotel in Downers Grove tonight. Self-guided tours will be available between 7:30-10:30pm on Oct 23 and 24.

Take a self-guided tour of the haunted house for $8 per person, and explore the Great Ballroom, guest rooms and the hotel kitchen among other themed rooms.

The Lincoln Hotel is located at 935 Maple Avenue in Downers Grove, (AKA the Lincoln Center) and is suitable to anyone ages 10 and above.The Lincoln Center will be closed on Oct 23 and 24 for this Suburban Horror Story Event.

Lincoln Hotel’s Murderous History

People have been asking us why the Lincoln Hotel is haunted - over the years many mysterious events have taken place in the building, including the 1892 murder of Mr Montgomery. Here’s an extract from a newspaper article after the shooting:

“The shooting occurred a few minutes before 8 o’clock [a.m.] in the dining room of the hotel. The room was crowded with guests quietly enjoying their morning repast, . . . Suddenly, without a word of warning, the report of a pistol shot rang through the room and then another. Montgomery rose from the table and staggered back with his hand over his heart, exclaiming ‘My God, I’ve been shot.’ Both shots took effect in the region of his heart. The wounded man staggered around the tables towards his murderer and out into the hallway, where he fell dead at the foot of a divan.”
