Vice President Of District 58 Board Resigns

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — After nearly eight years on the Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Board of Education, Vice President Gregory Harris has resigned, citing "personal reasons," according to a news release.

Harris was set to serve on the board until April 2025.

In the wake of Harris's resignation, the District 58 board seeks to appoint a replacement by April 2025. Interested parties may click the link to complete a board member application. The deadline to complete the application is Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. Applications may also be picked up at the district office at Downers Grove Civic Center, 850 Curtiss St.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen and registered voter 18 years of age or older
  • Have lived in District 58 for a year or more before their appointment

School treasurers and trustees are ineligible, along with child sex offenders or former school board members who have been removed per the Illinois School Code.
