Village Ends Tax Rebate Agreement with Lemon Tree Grocer

Lemon Tree Grocer won't have to repay a portion of its sales tax rebate from the village, if it meets the village's conditions.

Downers Grove, IL - At the request of Lemon Tree’s co-owner, the Downers Grove Village Council voted to terminate its rebate sales tax agreement with the business.

Under the agreement, Lemon Tree was supposed to repay a large portion of the sales tax rebate it received from the village, since it will no longer focus on the grocery aspect of its business, according to Suburban Life.

The village agreed to waive the repayment as long as Lemon Tree reopens with at least 1,000 square feet for groceries by Oct. 1.
