Whittier School to Get New Principal

Michael Krugman will replace Linda Welch, who is retiring.

Michael Krugman has been chosen to take the helm at Whittier School.

Krugman, whose 24 years of educational experience include 10 as principal at
Mokena Intermediate School and six years prior to that as assistant principal at Mokena Elementary School, replaces retiring Principal Linda Welch. The board approved his appointment March 14, and he will start in his post July 1.

“Michael is very passionate about education, and truly committed to students. He
will be an excellent addition to our team,” said District 58 Superintendent Paul Zaander in a press release from the district.

Krugman said he truly enjoys working with teachers to help them be the best
teachers they can be—which then enables students to receive the best educational
experience possible.

As principal, Krugman enjoys being an active member of the school community
and spending time with students and teachers.

“I love to be in the classrooms and experience the learning taking place,” he was quoted in a press release.

“I am looking forward to continuing the high quality of education at Whittier by
sharing my knowledge and experiences as a principal. I am also looking forward to getting to know the faculty, staff, students and parents, and becoming a positive
member of the Whittier team,” he said.
