Work Wraps On Adventure Falls Sprayground And Mini Golf

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — It's been a little over a year and a half since work kicked off to create the new Adventure Falls Sprayground and Mini Golf at McCollum Park. Crews wrapped up construction in early 2024, which means the new park will be ready to welcome visitors come late May.

Work on the project began in Aug. 2022, with residents now already enjoying eight new pickleball and three tennis courts, complete with energy efficient lighting. Three more tennis courts were built with the capacity to be converted to pickleball courts.

Sponsored by Community Bank of Downers Grove, the courts opened during summer 2023.

Come May 25, Adventure Falls Sprayground and Mini Golf will welcome its first visitors. The sprayground will feature three splash pads, with spray features that are appropriate for kids of different ages. There's even a teen area with water features geared toward older kids. The park also boasts a lounge area with shaded seating.

The former Miner Mike’s Adventure Golf will reopen as Adventure Falls Mini Golf, complete with new signage and fresh synthetic turf.

When visitors want to recharge, they can chill out in the park's pavilion area, which features picnic table seating and spaces designed to accommodate birthday parties and other special events.

“Adventure Falls is more than just a recreational space; it’s a testament to our commitment to providing the community with engaging and diverse outdoor experiences,” Downers Grove Park District Board President Bob Kotula said in a statement.

Kotula added, “The newly introduced sprayground, along with the renovated mini golf and sport courts has truly elevated our amenities at McCollum Park to create a lively destination where families can enjoy both fun and relaxation.”

The hours for Adventure Falls Sprayground and Mini Golf will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for residents and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for nonresidents May 25 through Aug. 11. Residents can snag a season pass for the sprayground for $10 to get unlimited visits for kids 2 to 15 years old. Season passes are $5 for adults.
