Carpentersville Man Facing Child Pornography Possession Charges
In documents, prosecutors accuse the man of having images of a child younger than 13 on his cell phone, and provided 2 to another person.

ELGIN, IL β A Carpentersville man faces criminal child pornography charges for accusations he was in possession of child pornography and shared the images of children with others, according to the Kane Co. State's Attorney's Office. According to a release, Kane County Stateβs Attorney Joe McMahon approved the following felony charges against 55-year-old Edward J. Mrowiec, Jr., of the 900 block of Chippewa Circle, Carpentersville:
- Disseminating child pornography: 2 counts
- Possession of child pornography: 4 counts
According to a release, Kane County prosecutors accuse Mrowiec in charging documents of having four pornographic digital images of a child younger than 13 on his cell phone, two of which he had provided to another person.
On Monday night, an Elgin police officer was patrolling the area of Elgin's Wing Park when he saw a car in the park's parking lot even though the park was closed at that hour, according to the Elgin Police Department.

The state's attorney's office said according to Elgin police, the officer spoke with the car's owner, Mrowiec, who was in the driver's seat, and a juvenile passenger. The officer ended up bringing both Mrowiec and the juvenile to the Elgin Police Department, where officers found the reported child pornography on Mrowiec's cell phone.

The Carpentersville man appeared in Kane County bond court Wednesday, where Kane County Associate Judge Julia Yetter set his bail at $100,000, with 10 percent ($10,000) to apply for bond, the state's attorney's office said.
However, officials added that if Mrowiec posts bond, he's ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18. Judge Yetter set Mrowiecβs next court appearance for Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
