• Bison roaming in Kane County for first time in 200 years (chicagotribune.com) — Elgin readers may be interested to know that while Lords Park still has its two zoo-kept bison, Kane County has just introduced a free-range bison herd to Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve near Sycamore. The project, funded partly by the Grand Victoria Foundation, restores bison to tallgrass prairie for the first time in about 200 years and will eventually include public viewing and spring events.
