McHenry County Corrections Officer Dies Unexpectedly At Home

ELGIN, IL — A corrections officer with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office has died, the sheriff's office confirmed.

Jamie Rieke, 45, died unexpectedly at home on July 28. She was born in Elgin and had worked for the sheriff's office for 17 years.

Rieke's obituary describes her as a well-loved friend, family member, and coworker who enjoyed Cubs baseball and enjoying the company with loved ones around a bonfire in her backyard.

Her funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with a visitation an hour before.

Donations can be made to Helping Paws Animal Shelter or the National Police Dog Foundation in Rieke's name.
