Patrons learn to be greener gardeners at the Bartlett Library

On Thursday, June 7, presenter Sharon Yiesla of Horticultural Services broke down several ways for gardeners to be more environmentally conscious.

Yiesla opened the program up by saying that green gardening doesn’t have to be expensive or require many items to maintain. However, it does require everyone to really look at their own gardening practices and see where they can make changes.

“We’re a part of the environment,” Yiesla said. “[By practicing green gardening] we’re protecting where we live.”

The whole of the program covered best watering practices, selection of plants, pesticides and fertilizers, mulching and lawn care. Yiesla explained each topic in depth so that the audience could get a better understanding as to what they could do to their own gardens.
