4 Arrested In Elmhurst Kohl's Burglary, Retail Theft: Cops

They are accused of filling bags with merchandise and then leaving.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglary, retail theft, domestic battery, DUI, drugs, theft of lottery tickets, credit card fraud and damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Burglary

  • Julian Guerrero, 19, of Chicago; Daniel Bargas III, 20, of Berwyn; Maria Vega, 20, of Chicago; and Jonathan Abner Moran Riveria, 18, of Chicago, were arrested about 6 p.m. Tuesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of burglary, retail theft and obstruction of an officer. Guerrero also faces charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, child endangerment, no valid driver's license, disobeying a traffic control device, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. Police said the four filled bags with merchandise and then left the store without paying. They were all taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Aurinye T. Wells, 23, of Chicago, was arrested Sunday on burglary and retail theft charges. Police said she stole a suitcase full of unpaid liquor Aug. 15 at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. She turned herself in at the Elmhurst police station Sunday.

Domestic battery

  • A 64-year-old man who lives at the Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., was arrested about noon Wednesday at the hotel on two counts of domestic battery and one count of aggravated assault. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI

  • A 43-year-old Ashland, Oregon, man was arrested about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Armitage Avenue on a DUI charge. He was taken to the police station and then released.

Drugs

  • A 38-year-old Addison man was arrested about 10 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Street and Grand Avenue on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstructing identification, no valid driver's license, improper display of registration and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Theft of lottery tickets

  • A person stole two lottery tickets while the clerk was in the backroom about 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mobil gas station, 1000 N. York St. An investigation is pending.

Credit card fraud

  • A resident in the 400 block of South Prairie told police Monday that her husband's credit cards had unauthorized charges. The cards were stolen while he was at LA Fitness in Oak Brook. An investigation is pending.

Car burglary

  • A car was burglarized overnight Sunday at a house in the 600 block of South Spring Road. Several tools were stolen. An investigation is pending.

Damage

  • A group of youths kicked the front door of a house and cut the mat of a trampoline in the backyard about 7 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of West Alexander Boulevard.
