4 Elmhurst Stores Burglarized At Shopping Center: Police

Officers are looking for four masked men, who are believed to have left in a stolen red Kia sedan.

ELMHURST, IL – Four stores were burglarized early Tuesday morning at the shopping center at York Street and Butterfield Road in Elmhurst, police said.

The suspects unsuccessfully tried to enter a fifth establishment, authorities said. Police did not name the stores.

About 2:30 a.m., officers responded to an activated burglar alarm and discovered damaged glass doors to the businesses, police said. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage.

Police said they were looking for four mask- and hood-wearing men, who are believed to have left the area in a stolen red Kia sedan.

Similar burglaries occurred the same morning in Berkeley, Lombard, Oakbrook Terrace and Forest Park, so local police are coordinating their investigation with other agencies.
