Addison Police Issue 62 Citations for Unsafe Driving Week of Thanksgiving
Four of the violations were for not taking the correct measure for child safety seats.
ADDISON, IL – Police promised a crackdown on car safety this holiday season, and they’ve delivered: Wednesday, the Addison Police Department released its citation numbers for the week of Thanksgiving.
Between Nov. 14 and Nov. 27, Addison police cited 62 people for traffic violations. We broke down the numbers here:
- 11 citations for failure to wear a seatbelt
- 4 citations for child safety seat violations
- 12 citations for operating an uninsured vehicle
- 12 citations for speeding
- 6 citations for illegally using an electronic communication device while driving
- 4 DWLS/DWLR unlicensed
- 9 citations for equipment violations
- 8 citations for moving violations
The law enforcement crackdown and mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety funds, the Addison police said in their release. It was part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns for safer driving.

“Our officers are out year-round,” Sergeant Dennis Kotlinski said in the release. “If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seatbelt, day or night, you will be cited for the violation.”
