ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst Park District is poised to hire an engineering firm to create a master plan for Crestview Park.

The park, which is at 245 E. Crestview Ave. on the north side, is set to get a year-round heated restroom. That is part of the $90 million referendum that voters passed in November.

Most of the money from the referendum is going toward the building of a new Wagner Community Center.

Wagner's construction is expected to last through fall 2027. In the meantime, the district plans to use the recreation building at Crestview Park to house Wagner Center programs.

After that, the recreation building will be demolished, according to a park district memo this week. The district also aims to replace the Crestview playground next year.

The master plan, the memo said, would be carried out in phases, starting with the new playground.

Besides the recreation building and playground, Crestview Park has two baseball fields, open space for youth soccer, two basketball courts, six pickleball courts and a sledding hill.

The park board plans to talk about Crestview at its meeting Monday.
