Elmhurst to Host Public Workshop for Metra Station Improvements

The workshop will take place July 27 at City Hall.

ELMHURST, IL — The city of Elmhurst will host a Metra Station Workshop this month to kick off the planning and design process in potential updates to the local Metra station.

The workshop will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. July 27 at City Hall so residents and the business community may provide input and feedback, according to the city.

A survey is also available online to collect interest in Metra station improvements.

The city will work with the professional design team of CDM Smith and KMI.

The Elmhurst Metra Station currently has a depot building with a ticket office, a waiting room, a coffee shop and public restrooms located on the inbound side of the tracks, with an open-sided shelter along the inbound platform and a shelter/pedestrian underpass area on the outbound side. The facility was last updated in the 1980s, according to the city.

The proposed improvement project would include renovation or reconstruction of the station and platforms and ADA improvements.
