Vote to Settle Lawsuit, and Deal with Pauli's Marathon Station on City Council Agenda
Elmhurst City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Elmhurst City Council members will finally be given their new committee assignments at the council's next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 20. Aldermen had the night off last week because committee assignments had not yet been made since the swearing in of the new council on May 6.
But first on the agenda, aldermen will witness the swearing-in of Fire Department personnel, Battalion Chief Tim Lisowski and Lt. Steve Wroble.
Members of the public will then be invited to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.
In addition to approval of minutes and accounts payable, the council will vote to approve the following committee appointments:
- Public Works and Buildings Committee—Jim Kennedy, chairman; Chris Healy, vice chairman; Michael Bram; Diane Gutenkauf
- Public Affairs and Safety Committee—Pat Wagner, chairman; Norman Leader, vice chairman; open seat
- Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee—Kevin York, chairman; Bob Dunn, vice chairman; Steve Hipskind; Marti Deuter
- Development, Planning and Zoning Committee—Scott Levin, chairman; Dannee Polomsky, vice chairman; Mark Mulliner
The remainder of the consent agenda includes the following items up for approval:

- Dry sludge storage building construction contract for the Elmhurst Water Reclamation Facility. Baxter Woodman was awarded an amendment to the existing agreement to design the enclosure. Bids for the work will first be discussed at the Committee of the Whole meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, immediately preceding the City Council meeting. Low bidder for the construction of the building is John Burns Construction out of Orland Park, at $940,000. The city has applied to the Illinois EPA for a low-interest loan for the work. Aldermen also will vote to extend the city's contract with Baxter Woodman for engineering work.
- Sale by auction of a 2008 Saturn Aura. The vehicle was seized for forfeiture by the police department after an arrest.
- An ordinance amending the city code to reflect water and sewer rate increases
- Sign variations at Chik-fil-a
- A settlement agreement in the case of Bernadine Gearlds-Falbo versus Officer Alexander Kefaloukas, Officer David Graham and the city of Elmhurst
- Award of the dry sludge storage building project
- Amendment No. 4 to the agreement for design engineering services with Baxter & Woodman for the anaerobic digester at the wastewater treatment plant
Mayor Steve Morley and City Manager Jim Grabowski will offer any reports to the council.
The final vote of the evening will be to approve the 30th amendment to the real estate purchase contract with Pauli's Marathon. The city is negotiating with the owner to purchase the property at 260 N. York St.
