Commuters Can Expect Delays Due to Continuing Structure Fire in Elmhurst — Avoid These Streets

Motorists are expected to face delays this evening when traveling in the Elmhurst area, the city announced in a press release late Thursday afternoon.

Due to a fire at dress shop VIP Occasions that's been blazing since 1:30 p.m, several roads and side streets are closed until the situation is under control. Firefighters were still trying to contain the flames as of 4:09 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The fire started at 1:37 p.m. at the shop, which is located at 351 N. York St. York Road between Lake Street and North Avenue is currently closed.

The following areas are also blocked off to make room for fire equipment:

• Grantley Avenue between York Street and Emroy Avenue
• Columbia Avenue between York Street and Emroy Avenue
• Grantley Avenue between York Street and Larch Avenue.

No injuries have been reported in the fire. Continue to check this story for updates on traffic conditions.
