Custody Spitting, Theft: Elmhurst Cops

Police were called about a dispute during a child custody transfer, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving spitting during a child custody transfer, retail theft, a stolen wallet, a yard sign theft, a domestic disturbance, a found shell casing and injuries. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Custody spitting

  • A woman told police Friday that her ex-husband spit on her car during a child custody transfer. She said she wanted the incident documented. The ex-husband denied the incident. The woman and man were asked to avoid contact with each other outside of custody transfers.

  • A person's laptop bag containing numerous items was found about 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of East Lake Street. The victim told police it was in his car, which had been stolen in Hoffman Estates. Hoffman Estates police were notified. The bag was put into evidence for safekeeping.

Retail theft

  • A woman stole merchandise about 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

Stolen wallet

  • About 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, a woman saw several fraudulent charges on her bank account and then realized her wallet was stolen after going to Walgreens, 160 Robert Palmer Drive. An investigation is pending.

Yard sign theft

  • A man stole a yard sign about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 100 block of North Myrtle Avenue.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police were called to a domestic disturbance about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of North Haven Road. A person accused another of striking the first person in the face. The suspect denied hitting the person. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and the lack of visible injuries.

Broken window

  • Someone broke the back window of a car between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

Shell casing found

  • A woman found an ammunition shell casing shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Cayuga Avenue. An officer retrieved the shell casing and placed it into evidence.

Falls

  • A person fell about 5 p.m. Saturday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The person was taken to the hospital.
  • A person fell about 8 p.m. Saturday outside Roberto's Ristorante, 483 S. Spring Road. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Injury

  • A man told police that he was trying to find his mother. Officers found her and saw that she was injured about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Manny's Ale House, 683 W. St. Charles Road. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
