Customer Deceives Clerk At Elmhurst Ice Cream Shop: Cops
In another case, a man was arrested in the burglary of a car in an Elmhurst neighborhood.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving deception, burglary, disorderly conduct, a DUI, retail theft, harassment and damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Clerk deceived
- A man deceived a clerk into giving him change after taking back his original payment about 9 p.m. Saturday at Kilwins ice cream shop, 148 N. York St. An investigation is pending. The man was described as white, tall, thin, in his late 50s or 60s, speaking in some type of European accent, having a white beard, and wearing a white winter coat, blue jeans and black sneakers with white bottoms.
Burglary

- Silvester C. Almaguer, 25, of Chicago, was arrested Monday on a charge of burglary without causing damage. Police said Almaguer stole several tools from a car shortly before midnight Dec. 15 in the 600 block of South Spring Road. Almaguer was released.
Disorderly conduct
- A 37-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 10 block of Willow Tree Court was arrested about midnight Wednesday on a charge of disorderly conduct (befouling property). Police said the man was urinating in the bushes in the 900 block of South Kent Avenue. He was released.
DUI

- A 25-year-old Glen Ellyn man was arrested about 1 a.m. Wednesday at Roosevelt Road and Salt Creek on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and driving with one headlight. He was taken to the police station and released.
Warrant
- A 47-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald's, 190 E. Butterfield Road, on a DuPage County warrant. Officers were called to check on the man's well-being. Police said the man provided a false name and had drug paraphernalia that contained drug residue. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
- Two men stole merchandise about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending. The first man was described as Hispanic, 15 to 35, and wearing a gray sweatshirt. The other one was Hispanic, 15 to 35, and wearing a gray sweater and a black hat.
Harassment
- An employee at Elmhurst Animal Care Center, 850 S. Riverside Drive, was harassed by a caller about 11 a.m. Tuesday. She wanted to report the incident as a matter of record.
Damage
- A washing machine door was damaged during an argument about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Park Place, 1050 S. Euclid Ave.
- A tow truck damaged a lawn and driveway about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of North Geneva Avenue. An investigation is pending.
