Death Notice: Clyde Smith, York Class of '55

Clyde Donald "C.D." Smith, a 1955 graduate of York High School, died May 18 in Springfield after a short illness. 

Mr. Smith was raised in Elmhurst, earned a bachelor's of fine arts in painting from University of Illinois and became an accomplished artist. He also owned the Ruby Sled Antique Shop in Springfield for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Bette Jo; his children, David and Grace; and his granddaughter, Mercedes.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in Springfield.
