John Phares Laird, 71, of Wheaton, died Aug. 28. He taught economics at Elmhurst College and worked as a business broker for JPL and Associates. He also served in the U.S. Army as an artillery corps officer. Mr. Laird is survived by his sons, Michael and Eric, his daughter-in-law Jennifer Laird, and his two grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in Wheaton. A memorial service will follow.
